★ HiPP German Stage 2 Ready to Feed - Follow-On Formula for the Solids Stage, No Preparation Required

  • Iron 1.0mg per 100ml - nearly double Stage 1 - at around 6 months, babies' natural iron stores built up during pregnancy begin to deplete. Stage 2 is formulated specifically to address this with higher iron to support neurological development and blood formation during the weaning transition.
  • No preparation - sterile and pre-mixed - shake, attach a nipple, feed. Particularly useful alongside the chaos of introducing solids, when the last thing you need is a formula preparation routine on top of purees and spoon feeding.
  • Palm oil free - cream used instead - like the Stage 1 RTF, this formula uses cream as the fat source rather than palm oil. Better fat absorption and no calcium soap formation in the gut.
  • DHA 13.6mg + GOS 0.5g prebiotics per 100ml - DHA supports ongoing brain and visual development, while the higher GOS content (vs Stage 1) supports gut health during the transition to solid foods when the microbiome is under additional adjustment pressure.
  • 100% lactose - no starch, no maltodextrin, no added sugar - a clean carbohydrate profile matching the follow-on formula to the natural carbohydrate of breast milk, suitable for babies doing well on lactose.

For 6-month-olds moving into solids who need higher iron, no preparation hassle, and the same HiPP German quality in a ready-to-pour bottle.

Description

HiPP German Combiotic Stage 2 - Ready to Feed - From 6 Months - Made in Germany

Stage 2 - Ready to Feed.
Higher Iron. No Preparation. Built for the Solids Stage.

At six months, two things change at once: your baby starts solid foods, and their natural iron stores begin to deplete. HiPP German Stage 2 Ready to Feed is formulated for exactly this transition - with nearly double the iron of Stage 1, higher calcium, and more GOS prebiotic fiber to support a gut adjusting to its first real foods. And it comes pre-mixed in a sterile 200ml bottle, so there is nothing to prepare when your hands are already covered in sweet potato puree.

From 6 Months Iron 1.0mg No Preparation Palm Oil Free DHA 13.6mg GOS 0.5g Sterile 200ml EU Organic

Why Stage 2 Is Different from Stage 1

Iron 1.0mg

The Iron Story at Six Months

Babies are born with iron reserves accumulated during pregnancy - enough to last roughly the first six months. After that, those stores begin to run low, and dietary iron becomes essential. Breast milk contains very little iron, and most early solid foods are low in it too. This is why follow-on formula is fortified with significantly more iron than infant formula. At 1.0mg per 100ml, Stage 2 provides iron to support the production of red blood cells and the development of the central nervous system during one of its most active growth periods.

GOS 0.5g

More Prebiotics for a Gut Adjusting to Solids

The introduction of solid foods is one of the biggest microbiome disruptions a baby's gut experiences. New food textures, new proteins, new fermentable fibers - all arriving at once. HiPP Stage 2 RTF increases GOS prebiotic fiber from 0.3g (Stage 1) to 0.5g per 100ml, providing additional fuel for beneficial gut bacteria at exactly the moment they are under the most pressure. This supports stool regularity during weaning and helps maintain the microbiome diversity that is closely linked to immune function and long-term metabolic health.

Palm Oil Free

Cream Instead of Palm Oil - Continued

Like Stage 1 RTF, this formula uses cream as the primary fat source rather than palm oil. This is a feature specific to the Ready to Feed range - the powder versions of HiPP German Stage 2 contain palm oil. For parents who switched to RTF specifically for the palm oil-free formulation, Stage 2 continues that benefit through the weaning period. Cream provides palmitic acid in the sn-2 position - mirroring breast milk fat structure - which supports better fat absorption and softer stools compared to palm-oil-based formulas.

DHA 13.6mg

Calcium and DHA - Building Bones and Brain Together

Stage 2 raises calcium to 70mg per 100ml (from 52mg in Stage 1) to support the rapid bone mineralization happening alongside early motor development - crawling, pulling up, first standing. DHA at 13.6mg continues to support brain development, which remains intensive throughout the second half of the first year. These two nutrients work together: calcium provides structural material for bones while DHA supports the neural connections that coordinate the movements those bones are making.

How to Use - Shake, Pour, Feed

No boiling, no scooping, no measuring. Stage 2 RTF is ready the moment you need it - useful alongside a solid food routine when preparation time is already stretched.

1 Wash hands Clean hands before handling bottle or nipple.
2 Shake the sealed bottle Shake well before opening.
3 Attach nipple and warm if needed Attach a sterilized nipple adapter. Warm using warm water or a bottle warmer if preferred. Never microwave.
4 Feed and discard remainder Use the full bottle in one session. Once opened, seal and refrigerate at 4-6°C for use within 24 hours, or discard any remainder not used immediately.

From 6 months, babies typically need 3-5 formula feeds per day of 170-200ml alongside solid meals. With each solid food meal introduced, one bottle feed is gradually replaced. Each 200ml bottle covers a standard feeding portion at this stage. Store unopened below 25°C / 77°F. Expiration date in European format DD/MM/YYYY.

Frequently Asked Questions

When exactly should I switch from Stage 1 to Stage 2?

The recommended age is around 6 months, but the more meaningful trigger is the introduction of solid foods rather than a specific birthday. Stage 2 is designed to complement a mixed diet of formula and solids - its higher iron, calcium, and GOS levels address the nutritional needs that arise during weaning. If your baby is not yet on solids at 6 months, it is reasonable to remain on Stage 1 or Stage PRE RTF until solids begin, then switch. Always follow your pediatrician's guidance on weaning timing.

How many bottles per day does a baby on Stage 2 need?

At the start of weaning, most babies still take 4-5 formula feeds of around 170-200ml per day alongside initial solid meals. As solid food intake increases over the following weeks and months, formula feeds are gradually reduced - one bottle is typically dropped for each solid meal that is fully introduced. By around 9-10 months many babies are on 3 formula feeds per day. Each 200ml bottle covers a full Stage 2 feeding portion.

Why does Stage 2 RTF not contain the lactic cultures found in Stage 1 RTF?

This is a formulation difference between the two stages. Stage 1 RTF includes Lactobacillus Fermentum Hereditum as part of the Combiotic system. Stage 2 RTF provides prebiotic support through the increased GOS fiber (0.5g vs 0.3g) but does not include added lactic cultures. This is consistent with standard practice for follow-on formulas, where the microbiome is more established and the emphasis shifts toward prebiotic fiber rather than introduced probiotic strains.

Is this formula palm oil free like Stage 1 RTF?

Yes. Both Stage 1 and Stage 2 in the Ready to Feed range use cream as the fat source instead of palm oil. This is a specific advantage of the RTF format over the powder versions, which do contain palm oil. For parents who chose RTF specifically to avoid palm oil, the benefit continues seamlessly through the transition from Stage 1 to Stage 2.

Can I use Stage 2 RTF alongside solid food meals?

Yes, and this is exactly how it is intended to be used. Formula remains the primary nutrition source during early weaning, with solid meals gradually increasing in frequency and portion size over several months. A practical approach is to offer formula first at feeding times and solid foods after, so that nutritional intake is maintained even when a new food is rejected. Bottle feeds reduce naturally as solid food acceptance increases.

How do I read the expiration date on the bottle?

HiPP prints dates in European format DD/MM/YYYY. A date of 09/06/2026 means 9th June 2026. Ready to Feed formula has a shorter shelf life than powder - this is normal and not a quality concern. All bottles shipped from Infantiz carry a minimum of 3 months shelf life from dispatch date.

Important Notice: Breastfeeding is the best nutrition for your baby. HiPP German Stage 2 Ready to Feed is suitable from 6 months alongside the introduction of solid foods. Once opened, seal and refrigerate at 4-6°C for use within 24 hours, or discard remainder after feeding. Do not microwave. Do not freeze. Store unopened below 25°C / 77°F. Expiration date in European format DD/MM/YYYY. Always consult your pediatrician before changing formula.

Advantages
Having ready to feed bottles in the bag when we are out has made weaning so much less stressful, one less thing to prepare when you are already packing purees and bibs and everything else
Disadvantages
The shelf life means you are ordering more frequently than with powder, I just set a reminder every few weeks
Comment
My wife and I both work and we do a lot of weekend trips now that our son is in the highchair stage. Packing powder and a flask of hot water while also managing purees and snacks was getting complicated. Switching to Stage 2 RTF for everything outside the house simplified our bag significantly. We use the powder at home during the week and RTF for everything else. The higher iron in Stage 2 compared to what we were on before was something our pediatrician confirmed was the right move at six months.

Advantages
The transition from Stage 1 to Stage 2 was completely smooth and our daughter has had no digestion issues at all, the higher iron content was actually the main reason we stayed with HiPP instead of switching to a cheaper brand
Disadvantages
I wish the bottle had measurement markings on the side so you can see exactly how much your baby has taken
Comment
We started solids around 5.5 months and switched to Stage 2 shortly after. Our pediatrician specifically mentioned that iron becomes important around this age and to make sure the formula we chose had adequate levels. Stage 2 RTF was an easy decision because we were already on Stage 1 RTF and loved not having to prepare anything. The fact that it is still palm oil free was a bonus we did not expect to carry over from Stage 1. Three months in and we have had zero issues.
