Description

HiPP HA COMBIOTIC · Stage 1 · 600g · From Birth

Hypoallergenic formula
for the hungry, sensitive baby.

All the allergy protection of HiPP HA - hydrolyzed protein, live probiotics, Metafolin - with organic starch added for babies who need extra satiety from day one.

✓ Made in Germany ✓ Hydrolyzed Protein ✓ With Starch ✓ Live Probiotics ✓ From Birth

Allergy protection meets satiety

80-90%

Hydrolyzed Whey Protein

Milk proteins broken into smaller fragments that the immune system is less likely to recognize as a threat. Clinically studied for 25 years and confirmed by the European Food Safety Authority.

+Starch

Creamier - Longer Satiety

Organic starch makes Stage 1 thicker and more filling than HA PRE. The right choice if your sensitive baby drains bottles quickly and seems hungry shortly after feeds.

Live

Probiotics + GOS Prebiotics

Hereditum lactic acid cultures plus 0.3g GOS prebiotic fiber. A dual gut-health approach that is especially relevant for allergy-prone babies whose microbiome balance matters from day one.

13.4mg

DHA + Metafolin

Omega-3 DHA for brain and visual development, alongside Metafolin - the active folate form that every baby absorbs fully regardless of genetic variation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I start with HA PRE or HA Stage 1?

The allergy protection is identical in both - same hydrolyzed protein level, same probiotics. The only difference is starch. HA PRE has no starch and a thinner consistency, closest to breast milk. HA Stage 1 adds starch for a creamier, more filling feed. If your newborn settles well after feeds and isn't showing hunger cues shortly after, start with HA PRE. If your baby seems hungry quickly or feeds very frequently, HA Stage 1 may keep them more satisfied between feeds.

Can I use HA Stage 1 if my baby doesn't have allergy symptoms yet?

Yes - and many parents do. HiPP HA Stage 1 is commonly chosen as a preventive measure when there is a family history of allergies, eczema, asthma, or hay fever - even before any symptoms appear in the baby. Clinical guidelines suggest that introducing hydrolyzed protein early and maintaining it consistently for 4-6 months gives the best protective effect. Consult your pediatrician if you are unsure whether HA formula is appropriate for your situation.

Why is HA Stage 1 not labeled organic?

The hydrolysis process that breaks down milk proteins - the feature that makes this formula hypoallergenic - is not compatible with organic certification. Hydrolyzed milk protein is simply not available in certified organic form. However, HiPP applies the same strict sourcing standards to HA formulas as to their organic line: no pesticides, no GMOs, no synthetic hormones, no antibiotics. The formula is manufactured in Germany and meets all EU food safety requirements.

Does HA formula smell and taste different from regular formula?

Yes - hydrolyzed protein formulas have a slightly different smell and sometimes a mildly bitter taste compared to standard formula. This is a normal characteristic of partially hydrolyzed whey. Most babies accept it without issue, especially when introduced from birth. If transitioning from a standard formula, mixing a small amount of HA into the current formula and gradually increasing the ratio over a few days can help with acceptance.

When do I switch to HA Stage 2?

At 6 months, when your baby starts solid foods, HiPP HA Stage 2 takes over. It provides double the iron (1.0mg vs 0.60mg per 100ml) and more calcium to meet the nutritional needs of the weaning stage - while maintaining the same hydrolyzed protein and probiotic protection your baby has had from the start.

How long does one box last?

One 600g box makes approximately 140 scoops at 4.3g per scoop. At the newborn stage with 60-90ml bottles and 6-8 feeds per day, a box lasts 8-10 days. By 3-4 months with 150ml bottles, expect 7-8 days. Our bundle options offer significant savings per box - the 12-box set is the most cost-effective for families planning to use HA formula through the full 6-month preventive period.

Important: HiPP HA Stage 1 is a specialty formula for babies with cow's milk protein sensitivity or at elevated allergy risk. It is not a medical treatment and is not suitable for diagnosed CMPA without pediatrician approval. Always consult your pediatrician before use. Prepare with freshly boiled water cooled to 40-50°C to preserve live cultures. Manufactured by HiPP GmbH & Co. Vertrieb KG, D-85273 Pfaffenhofen, Germany.

4
Advantages
Hydrolyzed whey protein, GOS prebiotics, Hereditum probiotic cultures, no starch, no maltodextrin
Disadvantages
More expensive than domestic HA options but no domestic formula matched this ingredient profile
Comment
We went hypoallergenic from birth based on family history and HiPP HA Stage 1 was the only formula that combined hydrolyzed protein with lactose only and a live probiotic culture. Ten weeks in with zero reactions, consistent weight gain and no digestive issues at all. The extra cost is completely justified for a family with our allergy profile.
Diana Prescott
5
Advantages
Eczema cleared within two weeks, no more screaming after feeds, mixes easily and smell is mild
Disadvantages
Box runs out in four to five days at newborn feeding frequency, always order two boxes at a time
Comment
Our daughter had visible skin reactions at ten days on a standard formula. Our allergist recommended hydrolyzed protein and we chose HiPP HA Stage 1 for the lactose-only carbohydrate profile and the Combiotic system. The difference was clear within ten days. Skin calmed down completely and feeds became peaceful. We are on box eight now and would not switch.

4
Advantages
Hydrolyzed whey protein, lactose only, GOS prebiotics and Hereditum cultures all in one formula
Disadvantages
First activation attempt had a small clump that did not dissolve, second mix was perfectly fine
Comment
Both my wife and I have allergies so we went hypoallergenic from birth as a precaution. Eight weeks in with zero reactions, consistent weight gain and no digestive complaints. The clean carbohydrate profile with lactose only was the main reason we chose this over other HA options. Would recommend to any allergy-conscious parent.

Advantages
Eczema cleared within two weeks, no more screaming after feeds, mixing is easy and smell is mild
Disadvantages
Box lasts only four to five days in the early weeks, budget accordingly
Comment
Our daughter broke out in a rash at two weeks on a standard formula and our pediatrician immediately suggested a hydrolyzed option. We chose HiPP HA Stage 1 based on the ingredient list and within ten days the difference was visible. Skin calmed down, feeding sessions became peaceful. We are on box six now and she is thriving.
Tara Flemming
5
Advantages
Eczema improved significantly, no more uncomfortable feeding sessions, baby gaining weight on track
Disadvantages
Packaging could be more resealable, the foil inner lid is a bit fiddly
Comment
Our daughter had eczema from week three and our allergist recommended a hypoallergenic hydrolyzed formula. We chose HiPP HA Stage 1 based on the ingredient list and have not looked back. Skin cleared up within three weeks and she takes every bottle without complaint. Highly recommend for allergy-prone babies.

5
Advantages
Prebiotics and probiotics visibly helped gut health, less spit-up, firmer stools within two weeks
Disadvantages
Wish the scoop was a bit easier to level, minor complaint in the grand scheme
Comment
We switched from a standard European formula when our son started showing signs of sensitivity at six weeks. HiPP HA Stage 1 made a noticeable difference quickly. The Combiotic blend with lactic cultures seems to really help his digestion. Ordering our third box now.
Courtney Adler
4
Advantages
Gentle on a very sensitive stomach, no bloating, baby sleeps longer stretches since switching
Disadvantages
Took about ten days to fully transition, some fussiness during the adjustment period
Comment
Our pediatrician suggested a hydrolyzed formula after our daughter showed early signs of cow milk sensitivity. The transition took patience but once she adjusted the change was obvious. Calmer, less gassy, much happier baby overall.
Marcus Webb
5
Advantages
Clean ingredient list, hydrolyzed protein, lactose only, no corn syrup or starch
Disadvantages
Price is noticeably higher than domestic brands but the difference in quality is clear
Comment
Both my wife and I have food allergies so we wanted to be proactive from day one. Eight weeks in with zero skin reactions, great weight gain and no digestive complaints. We would not switch to anything else.
Jennifer Caldwell
5
Advantages
No rashes, no gas, baby settled within days of switching, mixes cleanly without lumps
Disadvantages
Box runs out fast in the early weeks, around 4-5 days per box at peak feeding
Comment
Our son reacted to two different US formulas before we tried HiPP HA Stage 1. Within a week the fussiness and skin flare-ups were completely gone. We are on our fifth box now and he is thriving at 10 weeks. Worth every penny.
Brittany Lawson
5
Advantages
Gentle on sensitive tummies, easy to prepare, consistent quality
Disadvantages
European date format on the packaging was confusing at first
Comment
As first time parents we were anxious about formula choices. This one stood out because of the hydrolyzed protein and strict EU production standards. The transition was smooth and our baby has been doing great since day one.
