Why does Stage 2 have so much more iron than Stage 1?

At birth, babies carry iron reserves transferred from their mother during pregnancy. These reserves sustain them through the first 6 months. After this point, the stores begin to naturally deplete - and breast milk alone doesn't provide enough iron to compensate. HiPP Stage 2 provides 1.0mg iron per 100ml - double Stage 1's 0.60mg - to bridge this gap and support healthy blood cell production, energy metabolism, and cognitive development through the second half of the first year.

Can I use Stage 2 alongside solid foods during weaning?

Yes - this is exactly what Stage 2 is designed for. As your baby starts pureed vegetables, fruits, and cereals from around 6 months, formula continues to be the primary source of calories, iron, DHA, and other key nutrients. The number of bottles naturally decreases from 3-4 per day at 6 months to 2-3 per day by 10-12 months as solid food intake grows. Stage 2 is specifically formulated to complement this transition.

What is the difference between Stage 2 Organic and Stage 2 Combiotic?

Both share the same core nutritional profile. HiPP Stage 2 Combiotic adds natural lactic acid cultures (live probiotic bacteria) to support gut health and immunity. Stage 2 Organic is the simpler formula without probiotic cultures - ideal for babies with normal digestion. If your baby has been tolerating Stage 1 Organic well and has no digestive sensitivities, Stage 2 Organic is the natural next step.

How long will one box last at this age?

One 600g box makes approximately 44 bottles of 100ml. At 6-7 months with 150ml bottles and 3-4 feeds per day, a box lasts around 7-9 days. By 9-12 months with fewer but larger bottles alongside regular solid meals, a box may last 10-12 days. Our 8-box or 12-box bundles are the most cost-effective option for parents in the weaning stage.

When should I transition to Stage 3?

HiPP Stage 2 Organic is suitable from 6 to 10 months. From 10 months onwards, HiPP Stage 3 Organic is formulated for older infants approaching their first birthday, with an adjusted nutrient profile for babies eating a wider variety of solid foods.
